Product Description
The SmartSwitch DC4 from Energy Solutions is a compact, 4-channel DC digital switching unit that can be used to control low current loads (5A max.) such as lights fans, fridges etc. running on 12V or 24V systems in campervans, motorhomes, boats, overland vehicles, and off-grid applications. Its CANbus-controlled interface allows it to integrate seamlessly with Victron's Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX and the switching functions can be accessed through the new Switch Pane that is available with Victron's Venus OS firmware v3.60 or higher. This allows effortless control of your loads either locally, via a GX Touch screen, or remotely, via the Victron Remote Mangement (VRM) web portal or App.

Seamless integration with Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX
The SmartSwitch DC4 has been specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with Victron's Venus OS. Its CANbus control allows connection to a GX device, such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, from which the loads can be controlled using a GX Touch screen or via VRM. Twin RJ45 ports allow for use in a CAN 'daisy-chain' configuration, or termination at the end of a CANbus with a VE.CAN RJ45 terminator, and up to five DC4 units can be daisy-chained to provide a maximum of 20 channels for larger systems.
4 user-configurable channels
Each of the 4 channels can support loads up to 5A (15A total for the entire unit) and can be independently configured by the user to operate in one of three modes:
- Latched - load stays on once switch is pressed and turns off when pressed again
- Momentary - load is on only whilst switch is pressed and held
- Dimming - light brightness is controlled by 120Hz Pulse Width Modulation
There are physical buttons on top of the unit to allow manual switching of each channel if required.
Comprehensive protection
Each output channel is protected against over-current by a user-selectable current limit that simulates the characteristics of a standard blade ATO fuse. This 'virtual fusing' current limit can be set at 2, 3, 4 or 5A and there is an internal fuse rated at 15A to protect the entire unit. There is also thermal overload protection and the unit will shutdown at 90°C with auto-recovery at 75°C. LED indicators on the unit provide a visual indication of the channel output, current trip, and faults.
12V & 24V compatibility
The SmartSwitch DC4 can accept an input voltage of 8-32V DC so has the flexibility to be used in either 12V or 24V battery systems, making it perfect for a wide range of applications including campervans, motorhomes, canal boats, marine applications, off-grid homes & cabins, overland & custom vehicles, and more.
Simple installation and configuration
With no clunky relays and no messy wiring, the DC4 is a breeze to install and configure. Its 'plug & play' design needs only minimal cable connections, whilst setup and configuration is carried out using the intuitive menu on a GX device which will be familiar to existing users and is easy for newcomers to navigate.
The unit is DIN rail friendly for control panel mounting, and is surface mountable using the screw holes moulded into the housing.
